Got a deer!

I went on my second only deer hunt on Sunday and got myself a nice fat white-tailed doe! As first big game kills go, its a hard choice. I got a shot at a first one but missed, but secretly I was hoping that I would cause I really didn't want to kill it. The four does ran off and I thought that was it. But I kept sitting to wait out the shooting period, and low and behold another doe came by only 15 minutes later. I was a little more determined this time but still apprehensive, so the shot wasn't great, mostly a poor injury. She took off but we tracked her and Laura gave her the lucky kill shot that hit her spine and dropped her like a ton of bricks. Since I'm not too fond of venison, Laura took most of the meat and I took one hind and front leg, loin, and one side of the back strap. I'm making some jerky in my dehydrator right now! Mmm.

How do you like this photo! Look at that face! LOL! I'm thinking Buckwheat, or Opie or something. Ears and all! Yes, I'm not too proud to share.

Is this one better?

The backstraps, how good does that look? I'll have to bring some down next time I head to Boise

This is still in my garage. Its gonna be alot of work. On top of all the work already done. It sure better be some tasty meat! I am so sore from dragging her 600 metes in the pitch black night.

The dogs all thought I smelled wonderful! Though not as wonderful as roadkill. Poor Roy, I got him something special though :)

Jossie's first snow... and lots of it

Awh, Jossie is getting all grown up. This is the first time I have seen her just sitting around! and lying on the couch. To me this is precious, all three just relaxing and hanging out together. Vs. the puppy in spastic destruction mode and the dogs hiding in other rooms or snarling every time she gets within 10 ft.

So we got 16 inches of snow!! Its gorgeous and I love the way it changes the light in my house, its so much brighter. Which I certainly need in the winter.

Jossie was confused. What the hell Mom!

Oh my gosh, this is fun! She had a great time leaping and jumping with the other dogs.

This picture is so cute. Cause its out of focus she looks like a little puppy. Awh, mostly only memories now.
Our winter playground.

Incomming! Pertty Reena. Look at that gray muzzle, she has white lips now. So distinguished in her old age.

Pertty Jossie.

What a pretty face.

Here are the photos where everyone can say "are you insane". Perhpas, but who likes normal? And mostly, I'm just a country girl, that's how I roll.

Yeee Haaaw!

Oh man, Roy, you are so cool with your deer vertebrae. Where did you find it, oh master. I'll just lick the snow next to you if I may.

An iced over beaver channel makes for easy running through the cattails... until one realizes ice can break! Yikes cold water. So much to learn.

And this is what you have at the end of the day. But it sure was worth it!

Arm pits and all. This long hair thing sucks!

I knew it, that little red girl is Satan's spawn

She is starting to grow little horns!

What, nothings going on here, what you talking about.

Uh, honey, I can see them, their starting to show. There's no hiding them.

I'm pure sweetness.

These photos say differently.

But then again, this is what I see,

When I see this.
