my sixth is a six pounder
Jodi got me, looks like I'm next! Alrighty, here is my sixth. Not dog related surprisingly! It is thee BIGGEST EVER western toad I have EVER SEEN! I was doing night surveys in Atlanta, ID and this big girl was crossing the road. We almost ran over her...or more like just 'hit her', she probably would have totaled our truck if we did :) Mmm, frog legs.

winter wonderland
Well, I can report that a whole weekend spent with the office turned out pretty well. Any downer having to spend time with officemates was easily made up for in the beauty of the surroundings at the Whitetail Lodge in McCall. Gorgeous views out every window. I went cross-country skiing at Ponderosa State Park during the day, shopping, and soaked in the hot tub on the lake...is this gorgeous or what! (ignore my goofy face)
I was going to search for hotsprings but was nervous about trying to find them, never having been to any near McCall, in the winter without obvious trails and such....and the hot tube was soo much closer! I was tempted to polar bear it Payette Lake between soaks but there was ice on the shoreline, so I jumped head first into a snow bank instead :) I can't wait to plan a hot springs trip closer to Boise one weekend soon.
The office party wasn't to terrible. We have some new folks that it was nice to get to know better. And some big wigs joined us and it was nice to get to know them better also. We did a white elephant gift exchange.. my first gifts were stolen from me...then I got...hotel shampoo and soap wrapped in a bag! Lovely. I can guess what office prankster did that! It was generous of our office and regional manager to support such a nice event for us, I can't complain to much :)
It was a wonderful winter wonderland in McCall. Came back to Boise to snow too! I missed the Sleddin' and Sheddin' trial this weekend. You all must have gotten snowed on! Can't wait to hear how it went and how the runs were.

Determination
I had a great Thanksgiving spent with Janie and Jodi and their family members. Thanks so much Janie. The food and company was great. And we even got to work dogs earlier in the day while we still could move, before stuffing our faces with such yummy food and pies.
I really enjoyed working on our outruns. Janie, Jodi and I played 'catch' with our outruns. Reena's were wide at the bottom but at the top she would just refuse to go anywhere near Janie! Lions and Tigers and Janie Oh MY. No suprise there though, its a long standing response from Reena. What a stubborn little brat. I haven't come up with a way to adjust her attitude on that yet.
Janie's dog Roy got tired out so Janie went to put him up and Jodi and I did a few more turns. Oh look, Reena does know how to get behind the sheep! I tried to widen the top of her run, throwing sheep terds at her :). She responded real well and even went behind Zip and Jodi and came straight up past them to pick up the sheep a few times. That was great, she's only gotten back that far at the top once or twice before working out at Diane's.
So, today I'm at work, looking out at the actually sunny foothills and Boise River...one thing I shouldn't complain about is my view out my office window.. although I will complain cause I'd rather be out there. Especially on a Sunday damit. I've got to work real hard for the next two months because this huge habitat mapping effort our office has been working on, starting with field work in May, has several deadlines in Dec and Jan. And this all MUST be kept to the schedule because it effects the timeline for the EIS...and the EIS is ultimatly the product for our client, who's paying us millions of dollars to stay on schedule so they can meet their construction schedule, so they can meet the power demands of their clients. Anywho..
I also have an interview coming up that I need to prepare for.
This all leads to one of my favorite motivational sayings....to add to my last post :)

Sage wisdom from a skunk
Not a herding entry but something I thought I would enter cause I need to remember these fine words of wisdom. I was driving around town today and saw one of those benches with a 'Stinker Station' advertisement on it.... Pepé Le Pew says ....
Awesome, next time I make an ass out of myself...I'll find cause to celabrate...that much closer to good judgement.Good judgement comes from a lot of experience,
A lot of which comes from bad judgement.

Blogger envy
Ahrr, life can suck. So I am going to bitch. I have been working...ok, I won't lie....sitting in front of my computer in my office all freakin night! I have several reports etc. logged up on my past due list so I'm stressing.... alittle late apparently. I hate writing when the pressure is on, nothing but writer's block. Can't say its been a productive. To get the juices flowing ya know, I read sheep herding blogs....just a short break. People I know, people I don't know. A few hours later....oops.
Shoot! -I envy everyone else, writing about fun things, friends, dogs. Look at those people who have a life and don't work at all (green envy filter). My career has always been very important to me, my biggest wish is to be a competent biologist and to have a fullfilling career, always has been. Only my current job mostly asks too much of me. I either travel all summer or I'm pressed to finish reports under a small budget and short time frame. I'm not good at balancing work and personal life, sure wish I were. I really want another job. Less travel, where the quality not quantity of work is priority. There's truth in them slurs against consultant work. Now government work, that's were it's at. Who doesn't love government workers. Ranchers do, farmers do, tax payers do. I think I will work the night shift at QuickMart and work sheep all day. I'll save pennies I find when sweeping the floors for my farm. I want to blog about fun things, even do fun things. Not feel guilty cause I just wrote my first 50 words in a 30 minute too long break! Bitch whine. Where is my bed!

Lookie, I blogged- its a miracle

Ok, I just wanted to post so I could get to the top of Jodi's blog instead of the bottom! Something more recent than 1 year!
I've got strep throat and feel like a stucked pig, so if I'm not sleeping, I'm hacking up green loogies! Sound wounderful, no. Anything to miss work. This is Reena lazing on the couch with me. Since I haven't blogged in a year -can't believe its been that long!- I suppose I have alot to say so I'll be back soon.
