duck banding

We've been trapping and banding duck for a few weeks. The Bonners Ferry Harold came out to do an article on me as the new biologist and our duck banding. Fun, I'll have to get the paper next week.

Here's a photo of Dylan banding a mallard.

A young male woodduck starting to get his colored plumage.

We also checked woodduck nest boxes. This nest had two abandoned eggs which we cracked open...and one of them had twin chicks in them! I've seen double yoked eggs but I never considered actually twin birds.

And here is a cute photo of Roy from my last trip to S ID, what a handsome boy.
